The AM-12 TesTab Water Investigation Kit and subsequent refills will be used to test the dissolved oxygen content, nitrogen content, pH, temperature, and phosphate content of the lake and the surrounding wetlands. The Safety-Glo Nets will be used to collect aquatic animals and insects. The Panasonic DMC-TS25 waterproof digital camera will be used to obtain student perspectives on the project and to help with observations and document the experiences. The Going Collecting set will also help students investigate and observe small aquatic animals and insects. These will help us identify the local biodiversity, and give students formative and positive experiences outside in nature to increase their Environmental Development Identity. The goal of this project is to get sixth grade students to report to the community about the health of their local fishing lake, and what the community's impacts are on the water quality in the area. This project will be integrated in all subjects in school, and will be a community-based project that will help our students become more of an integral part of the community and incorporates STEAM.
