I am saddened to even be requesting such a resource for my students and my school; however, due to the most recent school shooting, I feel the it is imperative that every teacher in our 2 story building have access to a walkie talkie. As I watched the news unfold on Valentine's Day 2018, all I could think is that in MY SCHOOL, our teachers would have no access to front office staff, or ANYONE that could tell them what was going on. I heard a report that the shooter pulled the fire alarm, which resulted in children flooding into the hallways. If our teachers had a means in which to communicate in an emergency situation, the details of what was happening could've been shared, thus ensuring that our students could "Make It Home Safe".
