Every day my students can obtain pencils from my 'pencil plant' to write about their life experiences, stories, poems, and to complete their lessons. I started the school year with 300 pencils I purchased and there are none left. The students want to write in personal journals...they have been using lined paper from a notebook. I am reading Freedom Writers Diary, the students stated that they would like to have their own journals to write their stories. If we can acquire nice journals and pencils to keep them writing, I am hoping to publish their stories at the end of the school year.
