This upcoming school year, I am hoping to incorporate increased independent reading time in my classes. Children have been through a great deal in the last two school years, so I want to provide dedicated reading time that gives them a break from electronics. The brain does phenomenal thinking and growing by just reading and going away with text. Through these sets of books, different students can read the same book and discuss and share ideas about what they have read. Text is always supported with guided reading and a variety of writing assignments, however, the objective is for students to have valuable reading time.
