We use books to study literature and writing in small groups called literature circles. These books help us share reading experiences and collaborate with each other. We learn about culture, history, and life through these books. They help us learn empathy and gain understanding of different cultures. Books expand experiences and dreams. Reading these books will help my students understand history better, which in turn makes us better critical thinkers. We learn how authors play with words to make language. We analyze the power of language. We develop our own voice through writing and responding to the text. We are scholars!
