The used of content specific literature is crucial within a middle school math classroom. Students have various learning styles, that benefit from having math read alouds. Manipulatives are also a huge part of students' success in math. It allows them to physically manipulate tools that aid in their mathematical understanding. Students strongly benefit from this especially when it is a challenging concept. Whiteboards and easels are also a necessity within my classroom. Because I differentiate instruction, students are able to meet with me for small group instruction. Students will watch as I model concepts, then practice on their own whiteboards.
