The donations for this project will provide children with opportunities to feel empowered, collaborate, establish a community in their learning space, and improve organizational skills. Students will experience flexible seating. Learning environments have a direct impact on student achievement. Research says that classrooms with flexible seating choices have increased students' commitment to their learning. My goal is to increase student engagement in every way, and my students need your help! I have a great plan for these project materials. All of these materials will be flexible of course. Since our classrooms have linoleum tiles, the carpets will create a cozy place for students to sit on the ground with the lap desks or with clip boards. One carpet will be be used in a corner of the classroom with the coffee table as a writing space. The other carpet will be placed with the lap desks in our math materials area. In addition to these two spaces the pillows will be available for students to use in the classroom library. The bean bags will create a welcoming work space opposed to our current old bench. The stools will be housed at our small group instruction table, but available to those wiggly students who may struggle with sitting still in a regular chair. Finally the organizer drawers are identical to a set we have in the classroom. These will allow each student to have their own drawer to organize their materials in and travel to their flexible seat with everything they need in one place. Creating a classroom with flexible seating inspires students and allows them to feel comfortable in their classroom in a variety of ways. Thank you so much for helping us become flexible learners!
