Sitting on the carpet in a "Criss-Cross-Applesauce" position for long periods of time can be difficult, especially for 6 and 7-year-olds. They need to be able to move and sit comfortably so that their attention and focus is on the skill/concept they are learning rather than how uncomfortable they are. I want to give my kids options and allow them to choose what to sit on during whole group time. I would love for my students to have a variety of options to make the most of our whole group time together. Being comfortable would allow them to put all of their energy into learning and participating in the lessons and activities we do as a class.
