Throughout my first year of teaching I have been making a list of supplies I need in order to make my classroom run more efficiently. My students sit in their chairs almost all day, so I would love to have stools at my guided reading table to give them some seating variety. Also, with 30 students it can be hard to monitor everyone's learning at one time, but with dry erase clipboards my students can sit around the room and have the ability to work, as well as write their answer on their board. When the students hold up their answer, I can quickly monitor each student's progress with the content. My students really enjoy book clubs. Currently, we only have 2 sets of books, so adding a few more options will ensure we are able to have book clubs all year long. My students love hands on learning! By purchasing math flashcards and board games, I can ensure my students will always have fun ways to learn- even if they don't realize they're learning. Last, but not least, I would love fluorescent light filters. Studies show that these filters help create a calming classroom environment and help with eye strain/ headaches from fluorescent lights.
