One of the toughest challenges in teaching is keeping our students focused and engaged in their learning. These challenges are then added to other struggles such as learning disabilities and physical disabilities. We first got word of the Zuma Chairs after multiple attempts to add tennis balls and pool noodles to the bottom of classroom chairs to keep our wiggling students moving while working. We were able to see them in action with students that struggle with attention. The outcome is amazing how the focus shifts from creating a rocking chair out of a stable chair to focusing on classwork while rocking calmly in a safer student rocking chair. It is very encouraging knowing we could relieve some attention issues and focus more on student learning with these chairs. Our students deserve the best environment to learn in.
