We want to provide our students with a rich learning environment that allows them to investigate multiple problems and scenarios. Hands-on learning is a great strategy to get all students involved in their own learning. In our classroom, a document camera would open so many new doors for our learners. We want to give students the opportunity to share their work with the class and a document camera would allow all students to be able to see their peers’ work. Sharing work is a great way for students to communicate with their peers and practice speaking in front of a larger group! A document camera would also allow us to use manipulatives more often in our classroom. When using small manipulatives like unifix cubes, base-ten blocks, letter tiles, or other small items, students struggle to see how to use them and are left not knowing how participate in activities. We want to give our students as many opportunities to use manipulatives during math and reading and a document camera would give us the opportunity to make sure that all students are ready to learn. We would also be able to model everything and anything and set students up for success! A document camera would prepare our classroom for a more hands-on learning environment that would propel all students forward in their learning!
