Flexible seating has proven to have many benefits for students. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive. This type of seating benefits all students including special education students, students with ADHD, and your average 5 or 6 year old who need to move! Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed, resulting in engaged learners. I literally have students falling out of their chairs because they are so hyperactive. Wobble chairs provide gentle movement for a calming effect, making it ideal for all students. These chairs will not only excite the children, but also enhance focus and attention for fidgety and active students in the classroom. Many flexible seating options stimulate students’ sense of touch. This type of stimulation can help children focus and process information, resulting in academic growth.
