My students know what a wind turbine is but lack the life experiences to understand how it provides and alternative source of energy. These turbines allow students to use the scientific method to find the most efficient way to produce the maximum amount of energy through different blade angles and gear ratios. They can go beyond producing electricity to lifting objects and pumping water. The hands on approach to learning creates a knowledge that will stick with my student throughout their entire life. Being able to physically manipulate the turbine will give them the opportunity to truly understand this source of energy.
