Hialeah Middle School is home of the Broncos. Our school has recently expanded and now has a Bronco barn. We house 2 pigs ( Milkshake & Porkchop), 4 bunnies, and are currently building out our chicken coop. The materials we are asking for will help us build the rest of our pens for the expansion of our farm. My students are so excited to bring in other animals like goats, lambs, and a cow.
Bringing the wonders of agriculture and farming to the school site will enrich the students lives forever. Our population of ESE students will work hands on in this program giving them an outlet to explore new forms of learning. Working to explore hydroponics, veterinary practices, gardening, along with so many other interdisciplinary studies will prepare students for a life time of learning.
These materials and tools will be used by the students on a daily basis. My goal is not only to have the students exposed to the information but also leave Hialeah Middle will tangible skills. Working with shovels and trowels in our gardens, is just scraping the surface. Our Broncos will be exposed to woodworking and construction as we continually enhance our barn and take on new community projects.
