The students in my classroom are full of energy and are eager to learn. They enjoy using manipulatives to learn a new skill. Each morning we gather on our rug and have a morning meeting to discuss why they came to school today. Next we discuss what their roll is in the learning process so they can learn as much as they can that day. We also hold many discussions, play games, sing songs, and partner talk while on the carpet. The carpet is the heart of the classroom. It's were we gather as a community. Currently the rug we have doesn't allow enough space for each child sit comfortably or to designate a specific space for each child to call their own. Personal space is a difficult concept at the kindergarten level. The classroom rug I have chosen reflects my students bubbly personalities as well as allowing each student to have "a place of their own."
