Times are hard for many families right now and school is going to look much different when we go back this year. One of the most important things a teacher can do is build relationships with students by taking an interest in their personal lives and experiences. This year, students are facing a new normal, where parents aren't going to be allowed to send in birthday treats, visit for lunch, classroom parties, etc. Many students will also not be allowed to have outside birthday parties due to social distancing rules. School will look different in many ways with social distancing and I would like students to feel special in our room on their big day as birthdays are just about the most important things to 5 and 6 year olds. I am asking for birthday bags filled with cake mix and icing (to be made at home with parents), a special birthday book, prize scratch-offs to be redeemed in the classroom and a few other goodies to include.
