Research supports the value of play in learning. Too often we forget that secondary students and adults need opportunities for play to build interpersonal and problem solving skills. Games, and puzzles are a great way to build relationships and establish trust. I have selected age appropriate games and some new seating to set up a game center in my room. When students play, they activate different areas of the brain and can often return to their work with a refreshed mindset. Providing my students with the resources to play allows them to find the joy in learning and build the soft skills needed to be successful in the real world.
