In our classroom, students are allowed to sit where and how they learn best. Even if that means standing up at their desks, sitting on the floor, or lying on their tummies. Over the course of the day, students are collaborating, creating, communicating, and thinking critically, and they should be comfortable when doing so. Who can sit and work comfortable in a hard chair for six hours? I know I have a hard time with it myself. My students learn and work better when their environment is comfortable. Children need to move. Comfortable seating such as these Back Jack floor chairs allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean, or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused.
