We are a class of Sixth Graders located in California. Our area is urban and mostly working class. We are mostly Hispanic with some Caucasian and African-American students. My class loves to ask questions, be social, and work on projects. They like to present orally to the class. My students interact with kids all over the world from countries like Singapore, Norway, Iceland, and The Netherlands. They enjoy technology and anything based on NASA. They also enjoy our Saturday excursions to a local fossil dig where we dig up 15 million year old shark teeth. Like others, we suffer from lack of funding. My students have a natural tendency to learn by physical response. They're the type of kids that learn well in collaborative groups and are not known to do well if they simply sit and listen all day. They like to tie their lives to the learning and demand to know the personal connection that they share with any of our learning objectives. It's a great bunch of kids...
