Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to be an elementary teacher. My grandmother inspired me, as she taught First Grade for over 20 years. I loved helping her decorate the classroom, put up the bulletin boards, create engaging lessons, etc. It was amazing to see how many of her former students would write her letters/notes and speak to her as I was growing up. I am now living my dream of inspiring the future by touching the lives of students in First Grade. They are not just my class, they are "my kids." I may only instruct them for 180 days of one year, but I hope that what I teach them stretches beyond this time frame. I hope that I can follow in my Grandma's footsteps and be "the teacher" that the students never forget when they leave the elementary grades.
