My students are inundated with pen and pencil activities, though I work hard to give them many opportunities to work together and move throughout the classroom. I have found that with the lights off (or half of the lights off) our classroom is more focused, but can at times make my kids lethargic. With light filters, we can keep the lights on all the time while we are working and the fluorescence will not flicker of bother students with special needs. They also need to be able to sit comfortably for long periods of time. Wiggle seats will allow for good posture and movement while students are stationary. The two items I have asked for will help immensely to increase student motivation and learning will soar!!
