My kindergarten students will benefit from a classroom listening center. Portable CD players with headphones will allow the children to listen to stories. Our classroom listening center would be used daily. Students will gain independence as they build their reading skills by accessing a variety of titles from our book/CD library. Books would be changed regularly to ensure variety and increase the number of stories each child hears during the school year . Students that are widely read to have a greater chance of reading success. Listening to stories increases reading comprehension, improves vocabulary development and nurtures a love of books. During our literacy workshop students will be able to select, listen to, and respond to stories independently.
