My students attend a Title I high school in Arizona with about 1,500 students. We are a multicultural school with primarily Hispanic, Native American, white, and African American students. Located on the edge of town, most of the students are bused to the school. There is a wide range in both socioeconomic status and access to books: some teens speak of great home libraries and some share that they have no books at all. As students become more dependent on social media, it is more important than ever to maintain a vital library which includes access to quality information and an updated book collection that engages and informs teen readers.
