Social-emotional literacy is critical to my students' future success. This collection of books is based on giving a "scribble" human characteristics. My students can readily identify with a scribble! Almost all of them can draw a scribble themselves. They all experience the emotions that the scribbles represent. Students are more successful in school and daily life when they can manage themselves and can relate to others. These books and plush toys will help them learn to name their feelings. They must learn to name the emotion before they can "tame" the emotion. Once they can identify an emotion within themselves; they can begin to identify it in others. The realities of COVID-19 mean that these young students have not had the opportunity to develop these skills due to the lack of interaction with other students. This relative "isolation" has increased the need for specific instruction in managing their emotions and practicing these skills within a group.
