My ESL students will use the highlighters while reading short stories, biographies and other texts. The highlighters help them to identify main ideas, supporting details and academic vocabulary in texts. The students have highlighters now that are running very dry. My students need various color highlighters. For example, they may use a green highlighter for main ideas, a pink highlighter for conflicts, an orange highlighter for characters, a yellow highlighter for setting, and a blue highlighter for academic vocabulary. The highlighters help them with reading comprehension. My students enjoy using the highlighters and find them to be a very valuable resource.
