We will set up our class with workers throughout the room to help the students. Each one will get a basket and a list. Each list will include grocery items such as the ones that are on my wish list. The Nasco Replica package will help my students have a better sense of how a store is run, and these very real foods will help them identify not only in the classroom, but also when they are at the store. They will then look throughout our class store in the correct areas to find their supplies. These materials will help my students get real life experiences like they would in the grocery store. Each list will contain items that they will need to find throughout our class store and after finding it, they will wait in line and give the correct amount of money to the worker. Some of these items will create a meal with a main dish, fruits and veggies, a side, and a drink. Others items will be set up so that my students will have step by step instructions to make a sandwich and put it in a plastic bag. The food replica kit will help this project happen by allowing my students to have the resources for academics as well as their life skills. The students in my classroom will be practicing the $1 up method when purchasing groceries, while each student will need to learn how to manage their money, and work on their life skills within the classroom. Lastly, the cubbies that I am asking for will help me store the food/items away from the kids to create an organized station inside of the class, and to create a space where all the items go so they are not lost.
