These students live in an extremely low income area and do not have the means to buy books to read at home. While the current classroom library offers them some books to borrow, they are running out of options and struggle to find fiction and nonfiction stories that excite them. As we enter into the second half of the school year, my hope is to continue to foster a love of reading and to show them that reading at home is another option rather than just watching tv and playing video games. These books would allow all of my learners (even the struggling students) to read books at their own independent level without support from others which they often struggle to find. In addition to being on their reading level, it would also give them the opportunity to read stories that interest them.
