According to my textbook, Chemistry is the science of matter and its transformations. Matter, from the chemical point of view, consists of the substances we encounter in our daily lives, such as solids, liquids, and gases, as well as the atoms and molecules of which these substances are composed. Chemists move among these ideas to come up with explanations of how matter behaves. That sounds exciting but can be really dull when you have no chemistry materials to use in your middle school lab. I am excited that I can bring Chemistry to life with the supplies I am asking for. We will be using the Chemical Reaction Rockets to study NASA while learning how the rockets fly via chemical reactions. I will combine Algebra and Science together when we use the Chemical Balancing Equations Kit. I will use the periodic table simulator to teach them where the elements live and why they live there. Finally, I am excited to share the atomic models with my students. Having a 3D visual will be very instrumental in helping them understand atoms.
