When my students are unable to control their bodies during group activities, they are unable to learn the information being presented. When some of my students are really unable to control their emotions or bodies on their own, additional imput supports, such as, weighted lap pads have proven to be very beneficial for a group of my students with the most significant needs. Their are students in my class with a lot of energy, which makes sitting on the carpet for more than 2 minutes almost impossible. The “Wiggle Seats” make the student work harder to sit up straight, thus keeping their bodies engaged in less movement, but still giving their bodies a job to do while they focus on teaching.
