The students that I work with are struggling readers; many of them are dyslexic or have orthographic processing deficits. A listening library will help my students increase their reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. The listening library has always been my students' favorite classroom center. Unfortunately, we lost all our books with accompanying CDs in Hurricane Harvey floodwaters. My students love to choose their own book, lay on the floor with a giant pillow, and follow along as the book is read to them. Without the struggle of decoding unfamiliar words, students can enjoy the story and illustrations all the while learning new words and skills.
