Because my students are trauma-impacted by all that is going on in the world, their communities, and in their homes, these Calm Down Boxes will help students focus better in the learning environment. Our students often come to school hungry from not having enough food or having large families which sometimes it is hard to feed everyone. This will help with their social-emotional learning. During the counseling session, students will create their own Calm Down Boxes and not only place a fidget and snack but also something personal from home they can touch or see to help calm them down.
