I teach in a rural farming community in Georgia. My student population is full of hard working boys and girls who truly want to succeed. They often have so many odds stacked against them before they even enter the school doors that it is difficult for the students to see past them. My students love to show their school spirit. They take pride in our school and help the faculty and staff create a "home away from home." Many of them come from economically disadvantaged homes where providing basic school supplies is a challenge. All students are provided free breakfast and lunch because our county demographic suggests that an overwhelming majority of them are from impoverished families.
