By funding this basketball team we will be able to do 3 things. First, we will be able to provide students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds an opportunity to participate in a structured league. Second, I have placed a strong emphasis on building community within this team as many of these students that I am targeting have behavioral and academic struggles in the classroom. Studies have shown that positive enrichment activities can positively impact students academic experience. 3rd, some of these students have some physical gifts and will be given an opportunity to develop them while learning what it means to practice and work hard.

About my class
