When children recognize the phonetic sounds that alphabetic letters make, children will take their first big step toward associating words with their individual sounds, an essential tool for sounding out words and reading success. Learning the alphabet as the foundation of our spoken language gives us the advantage of knowing how letters and words are pronounced and spelled. I would like each of my students to leave my class as life-long readers! Learning the alphabet helps children form the basis of our language and communication for a lifetime. Repetition and hands on activities in this project will allow the children to practice letter recognition and sounds through a variety of resources. I would like each of my students to leave my class as life-long readers!
