I am wanting to make sure my classroom meets the sensory needs of my students to allow them to focus on academics and reduce the number of behaviors that occur. My students need flexible seating and the ability to have movement in their seats which the bouncy bands will help. After talking with my students they have expressed the need for more flexible seating and fidgets. These are items that they believe will be crucial for their sensory needs to be met. Because my students struggle behaviorally, I want to give them a learning environment that allows them to show movement and give them the sensory input that they need in order to focus on academics. They are often in need of breaks and the use of fidgets, especially coarse putty, help calm them down quietly. This is something I go through quite a bit in my classroom already, but it is quite pricey. My students are always thinking of things that can help them succeed in the classroom and different sensory objects are what we have come up with as a class.
