Moving away from traditional paper and pencil morning work, students will begin each day working with a partner or working independently, using materials and supplies to complete STEAM activities. Given the opportunity to begin their day thinking creatively and exploring a variety of learning experiences as well as access to appropriate materials, students will be noticeably more engaged in authentic learning. I have selected a variety of art supplies such as non hardening modeling foam, dot art painters, and magic craft noodles allowing the students to make choices that fuel their creative learning. I have also selected prepackaged STEM kits to plan, design, and build airplanes and bridges. All of these wonderful supplies will be organized and stored in specific containers that will be easily accessed by all students. Each STEAM experience will carry into the remainder of the school day through sharing time during morning meeting, literacy connections during guided reading, and journaling. I have purchased several items myself with this STEAM vision in mind, however I need help turning that vision into a reality for my students. Each donation ensures that my students have an opportunity to expand their learning like never before. Thank you!
