Four of the six schools in our district were flooded by Hurricane Harvey. LCJH was one of them, and we lost many of our art supplies, lots of furniture, and curriculum. After 3 school shared our high school in shifts, we are back in our own "new" building with concrete floors and a little more sheetrock and paint each week. Students have enjoyed art and have expressed themselves with basic supplies, and have worked together through all of their own resident displacements and have grown in skill and in character. I am very proud of them, and look forward to a day where we can begin fundraising and begin paying forward the talent and the gifts we have been given. This return to school will be the perfect time to tailor the room and equipment to surpass our goals in making a better tomorrow.
