Many of our students come to us with limited language skills. This puts them at a disadvantage from day one. So, they must work hard from day one. Many times, by the time they come to my music room, their minds are tired. It is my job, to energize them with music!
One of the best ways to do energize a child is to put instruments in their hands! Ukuleles are just the instruments! The right size for their hands and easy to play right from the start. It can be used to teach children to read,to write and to perform music.
Unfortunately, many of my students will never have the money to pay for lessons outside of school. So, I strive to give them the most enriching and individualized experience that I can in my general music class. My students love to sing and perform, incorporating a new instrument into what they already have in the music classroom will give them a new focused outlet for their musical talents. Ukuleles will surely wake them up when they walk into my classroom for music in the new year!
