Recently, we have experienced major flooding from hurricane Harvey. We have lost so many learning resources in our classroom. My students love learning. They crave opportunities to make themselves more successful each day. In order to help my students do this, I have created Daily 5 (reading/writing/phonics) and math stations for students to participate in throughout the day. These stations give my students opportunities to practice and strengthen skills they have learned. The stations also challenge my students to use higher order thinking skills. Working with peers in these stations gives students a chance to learn how their peers think differently than they do and this allows them to find new strategies for problem solving. The rug, stools, table and writing station/center desk will give my students an area to work together in their peer groups during Daily 5 and math stations. The bookshelf will provide a place for books and other necessary supplies needed for our centers.
