My students are learning to love reading and the joy of reading a good book. I want them to have books that they are excited about and are relevant to them. I want my students to be able to connect to their book, and in order to do that, they need books that reflect them and their lives. I want them to have books with characters that look like them, have experiences similar to theirs, and conflicts they may have faced.
