Our students are Kindergarten to fifth graders in an urban community in California. They are 75% Latino and 25% African-American and all of them qualify for free and reduced lunch. They walk or drive to our public charter school ready to learn! Many of them start Kindergarten at our school without knowing any English as Spanish is frequently the only language spoken at home. Many times, their academic growth is held back by a low level of language development. Each and every one of them work their hardest every day to prepare themselves to go to and graduate from college. Even in kindergarten, many have chosen their dream college and know what it will take to get themselves there, many of them as the first generation to go to college. They are bright, funny, caring, and serious kiddos!

About my class
