Student musicians will be using the instruments and equipment in their music learning. They will learn, practice, and create music in order to become literate and independent musicians. In addition, the instruments will be used to teach authentic cultural music in order to expand our understanding of music in cultures from around the world. In our classroom, student musicians are encouraged to move and to be active, as well as learn the practice and patience it takes to learn to play instruments and read music. This project will help fill in some of the gaps we have in the resources we have in our classroom! We have several Orff instruments that are quite heavy for student musicians to move. Sometimes we need to move the instruments from the sidelines and into our working space. The Suzuki heavy duty instrument cart will help us be able to move instruments in and out easily, keeping our students musicians and instruments safe. The tone drum and the guiros, as well as the woodblocks, help our student musicians learn rhythms, to play with others, and gives them a chance to participate in a way that is fun and engaging. These instruments are also multicultural instruments and will give student musicians to contribute in an authentic way to songs from different cultures.
