Traditional desks are not the favorite seat for most students. These foam tiles will provide a floor seating area at the front of my classroom, along with low tables I have acquired. By providing a seating area at the front of the room, it allows students more flexibility in moving their seat based on their learning needs on a particular day. I am attempting to include seating of various types and various levels for my students in order to increase their engagement and investment in the classroom. I have found that when students have choice in their seating, they often learn to recognize how they work best, and become much more active learning. This is an initial step to creating self-directed learners.
