My public junior high in Indiana is a study in contrast. In any given classroom of 25+, I have students who are homeless, sometimes living with relatives, and those who are financially stable. We are a multicultural school as well, seeing first-year ENL students from the Middle East, Asia, and many Latino nations. As budget cuts hurt more and more each year, it seems our students suffer the most. They no longer see rich resources in my classroom, but books in disrepair with no hope of replacing.
