Many of my students come in late and miss breakfast being served and then they are hungry all morning. I can't expect a student to concentrate on learning when their belly is begging for attention. "I'm hungry!" will allow my students to enter the room and join in the lesson and have a quick breakfast. This will allow me to feed their bellies as well as feeding their minds. Many of my students ask for snacks for when they go home. So on weekends for those few students I can make a little baggie of goodies to help get thru the weekend. No child should ever be hungry for knowledge or food!
