Some of my first-grade friends have a lot of energy. We are movers and shakers, we move around our classroom all day. We sit at our big rug, at our desks, and small group tables. I recognize that my students learn in different ways. I differentiate daily academic instruction for them, through the use of manipulatives and ability appropriate activities. Now, I would like to differentiate for them, by offering a variety of seating options. Comfy floor seats to sit on the rug at while reading a good book and wobbly stools for my friends at their desk, who have a little extra wiggle in them. By doing this I am giving them more opportunities for success.
