The start of my carpet or seated lessons always start the same. Everyone sitting "criss-cross, apple-sauce, hands in your lap," or sitting up nice and straight in your seat. At the end of the lessons, legs are out, heads are rolling, backs are turned, and students are out of their seats. When can I get all of my students to sit still for a span or five minutes to 30 minutes? The answer is... never! Plus, I'm not going to make them sit still for so long. As a teacher I cannot expect any group of youngsters to ever sit still for long periods of time. Luckily, we live in a world that has other options for my movers and groovers! I know for a fact that moving helps learning. I have movements connected to everything we do in class from language to writing to math. For the kids who cannot focus without constantly fidgeting in their seats because they are uncomfortable, what better answer for them than to wobble while they learn! We are expecting a lot from our students today in the classroom. While I try my best to let them get their wiggles out, do dance activities, and have hands on learning time, for the longer lessons and writing activities, some of my students are still very fidgety. For my little ones who need the extra wiggle time to help them focus, I know these chairs will do wonders. I have seen this work in other classes. I want my kids to be as successful as they can be in their learning, and if having a chair that wiggles for them, I know they will grow in their learning!
