Near our school, there is an Alzheimer's facility. My class wants to get to know the residents there. With the help of their families, gather information and my students will write a short biography of their lives and accomplishments. Then, they will make a portrait drawing and present this drawing and biography to them to have in their room. In order to make a quality drawing, they must practice. I am requesting 6 small sketching kit and drawing kits because my kids sit in 6 groups in my classroom. It also allows them to select the medium that they are most comfortable with. There are two different sets of drawing pads because of the need to practice. This will allow them to explore their creativity and ability to draw. This project will help my students learn to appreciate their lives more, as they learn more about the previous generation and their experiences in life. They will also learn empathy as they get to know, on a more personal level, the residents of this Alzheimer's facility.
