Teaching a love of reading to our students can often be a struggle with our curriculum. While we have an amazing curriculum, it often leaves little time for our students to explore and gain their own love of reading. With new books, my students will be more prone to increase their love of reading outside of class work. This will not only improve their reading levels but also make them well-rounded citizens as they grow older. Choice of reading often gives students a sense of ownership and more incentive to get lost in plot structure. In my classroom, I've found that our library has worn out its welcome. It is imperative that we get more books in our classroom in order to better our independent reading time.
