Over the course of the COVID months, my English language learners lost a significant amount of their new vocabulary. These high schoolers work so hard to express themselves as adults but it is a real struggle with so little vocabulary. When we returned to in-person instruction, I asked my students what they felt they needed the most. Every single student said, "more words!" They grasp new grammar concepts quickly but remembering useful vocabulary continues to be a challenge. I would like to use these flashcards in small groups for 15 minutes each day to quickly increase their vocabulary and fluency. The beauty of these donated cards is related not only to the actual vocabulary, but also to the mature and diverse images that illustrate each word. So many published flashcards are created for very young children. These cards I am requesting will provide the useful tools for my students to use in other classes and the real world while maintaining their precious dignity. I would be so grateful to be able to offer these cards to my brave and eager students.
